Match the timestamp’s unit first.

Unix timestamps count time from January 1, 1970 at 00:00 UTC. For example, 1704067200 seconds and 1704067200000 milliseconds both mean January 1, 2024 at 00:00 UTC. Choosing the wrong unit gives a different date.

Does a timestamp have a time zone?

A Unix timestamp identifies the same moment everywhere. UTC and local time change how that moment is displayed, not the timestamp itself. UTC is selected by default.

How is daylight-saving time handled?

Local time uses your device’s time zone. A skipped local time is rejected. When the clock repeats an hour, the earlier occurrence is used. Choose UTC to specify an unambiguous time.

What precision is supported?

Input dates cover years 0001–9999. Timestamps preserve milliseconds; the seconds result may include a decimal part. Leap seconds are not represented.
