How is percentage change calculated?
Subtract the original value from the new value, divide by the original value, then multiply by 100. A rate rising from 20% to 25% is a 25% increase, but a difference of 5 percentage points. The original value cannot be zero; negative starting values can make the direction less intuitive.
Can I use decimals or percentages over 100?
Yes. For example, 2.5% of 80 is 2, and 150% of 80 is 120. Results are rounded to 12 significant digits for display.
